"Chains can't bind creativity"

HE CREATES was born from the passion of Harry "HEC" Ellis. Harry was born and bred in the Nation's Capital. Once entangled in the allure of the streets of DC, he conformed to a lifestyle that led to a lengthy prison sentence. Harry has spent part of his teens, most of his twenties, all of his thirties, half of his forties, and if some miraculous legislation isn't passed, he may be incarcerated into his mid fifties. Since his incarceration, he chose to utilize artistic expression as a means of release. With no formal training, he has developed and mastered many techniques. The majority of his work tells a story about his culture, his experiences and the parts of life that he loves, admires, respects or that simply intrigues him.  His unorthodox style is aimed to leave the viewer in a position to formulate an independent opinion whether for a deeper understanding, inspiration, or conveying the stark reality of our past and present in hopes to achieve a better future.  

Two decades behind bars couldn't contain the spirit or ambition of Harry "HEC" Ellis. HE CREATES is a platform made to show the world that incarcerated people are human beings with talents that should not be overlooked.
